Ello obedece, fundamentalmente, al poder que poseen los medios de construir realidades y validar imaginarios colectivos; sumando a esto, su incuestionable poder de difusión. La televisión dominicana reproduce modelos universales, en los que las mujeres son cosificadas, reducidas a roles decorativos o al objeto de deseo de los varones. En cambio, los varones forman parte de otra realidad, también compleja, sustentada en la construcción de una masculinidad arraigada en estereotipos que se sostienen en la cultura patriarcal, que les enseña a dominar convirtiéndoles en presa de su “propia dominación”. Este estudio exploratorio tiene como fin conocer los estereotipos e imaginarios que tiene el estudiantado universitario sobre mujeres y varones, con el propósito de evidenciar las brechas de género presentes en el contexto de esta industria cultural.</p>Studies based on the participation of men and women in the media and advertisements are a recurring topic in gender studies. This is mainly due to the power the media has to create realities, the validation of a collective worldview; plus the indisputable diffusion power it has. Dominican Television shows an universal worldview in which the women are objectified, reduced to decorative roles or as an object of desire for males. On the other hand, men are part of a different reality, just as complex. Their reality is based on the construction of masculinities based on stereotypes established by a patriarchal culture that teaches them to dominate, making them "prey of their own domination". This exploratory study aims to know more about the stereotypes and worldviews around the college male and female students, with the purpose of demonstrating the gender gaps existing in the context of this cultural industry.}, number={2_93}, journal={Razón y Palabra}, author={Metz-Galán, Onoris}, year={2016}, month={may}, pages={300–319} }
