Abstract

This work reflects on the evolution and spaces occupied by physical-chemical photography, from the daguerreotype to contemporary media ecology. If previously doomed to possible extinction due to competitiveness with digital photography, the capture on film resists, adapted to a post-analog contemporaneity. Within the New Media Ecology, the practice of physical-chemical photography is inserted into a greater wave of nostalgia in contemporary times, called “retrotopia”, which permeates arts and media such as photographic film and vinyl. In this way, we reflect on the new-old format of film capture, considering its adaptation to the post-photographic ecosystem.
