Assistive Technologies: Learning resources to promote the inclusion and communication of students with disabilities

Abstract
In the next document the definition of assistive technology is explored an educational proposal to improve the quality of life and the professional development of students with disabilities. It analyzes the main difficulties faced by students with disabilities in the educational field and the repercussions that arise in the communicative link between student and teachers. It also establishes the knowledge that teachers must have to interact with students with special needs in the classroom setting. Technological requirements have a fundamental presence in the communicative process of students with disabilities. Therefore a series of procedures are described for the adequate use of assistive technology in order to implement an inclusion environment that favors integral development of student with disabilities. In the same way a series of competences are proposed to strengthen the capacities of the students as well as the teaching abilities of the teachers in a environment of inclusion. Finally a series of measures are proposed to identify the learning needs of students with disabilities and promote to use of assistive technology as a fundamental support tool in their educational development. An environment of inclusion support and solidarity is the key for society to coexist in community and focus its efforts to promote full and integral participation of student with disabilities in their professional development activities.
