Communication studies in Ibero-America build a peculiar media ecosystem, as it is the result of a mixture of concepts that present exclusive characteristics of the axis. The ecosystem is characterized by its cultural diversity and presents challenges that lead them to ask “where ecosystemic diversity can go. This has to do with the political scenario of the region, which increasingly coexists with the need to develop media education (Gillmor, 2005). In this context, we must be considered not only for technical training, but also for ethical concerns and the knowledge that this is not true. This is what has affected democratic processes, which have evolved in recent centuries to promote peace and harmony among peoples.
Based on these parameters, we present this call, which has as its interest the debate on the media ecosystem in its various nuances that are connected with studies on democracy and media education, directly or indirectly. To this end, we have defined some thematic axes that surround the subject from the perspectives that we have proposed.
