Subliminal Advertising, Mass Culture and Neurosciences: A Strong Cocktail for Semiotic Studies
Main Article Content
Abstract
Semiotic studies are facing a new stage of development. They deal with objects of study that emerge from outside their traditional fields of influence, and investigate new transdisciplinary frameworks, interfaces, hybrid disciplines and conceptual sub-fields to account for them. The contributions from the Neurosciences allow them to rethink some issues that had been "closed", “shut down” in previous stages. From this logic, this work explores "the old problem of subliminal messages" in advertising and mass culture.
